C.E.R.T. CLASS ANNOUNCEMENT

Last class was held in November 2011, next class will be held in March 2012, after the Home Show, we will have a booth at the Home Show with information on next class.

CERT:  A CITIZEN CORPS COUNCIL PROGRAM - PEOPLE HELPING PEOPLE

 CERT APPLICATIONS AVAILABLE AT SALEM CITY HALL OR ON THE DOEM WEBSITE AT www.salemdoem.us              

    The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program helps train people to be prepared for and to respond to emergency situations within their communities. When emergencies happen, CERT members can give critical support to First Responders, provide immediate assistance to victims and organize other volunteers to help.  Remember, at a time of disaster it may take several hours or days to get help from government agencies.  The public must be able to help one another. The CERT course is taught in your community by a team that has completed a CERT Train-the-Trainer course conducted by their state training office of Emergency Management, or through FEMA's Emergency Management Institute.  CERT training programs include; disaster preparedness, fire suppression, basic disaster medical and ground search and rescue operations.  Again, you must remember, at a time of disaster it may take several hours or days to get help from government agencies so the public must be able to help one another.  Remember neighbors are trained to help neighbors!  Get Involved!  Get Trained!  Please visit our Disaster Supply Page Link for a three day to two week supply list.

Several CERT kits are on display at the City of Salem DOEM office.  These Kits will be used for training purposes during the training sessions.
